Cell of Origin(COO)

Honeycomb cell (Cell of Origin, COO) is a GSM network to obtain location information to achieve the main service location positioning technology. It is based on the Cell-ID location technology in the U.S. E911 call the first phase of wireless location technology used in wireless networks is currently the most widely used positioning technology. This technique does not require the phone or the network to do more changes, so the phone can be on the basis of the existing structure to find the location system. It does this by collecting the cell in which the mobile station identification number (Cell-ID number) to determine the user's location. As long as the system can capture the base station to mobile station where the district's location on the map, and cell coverage radius, when the mobile station in the district in which the registration, the system will know in which area the mobile station. Positioning accuracy of this technique depends on where the cell radius, as in the Beijing area, the base station density is high, COO positioning accuracy can reach 200 meters; in the suburbs, the base station density is low, COO positioning accuracy can only reach twelve km. This technology is simple, small input costs, respectively, the existing network just to make appropriate changes or cell phone (little change), positioning can be achieved, is the most widely used wireless network positioning technology.
