IEEE1394

IEEE1394 interface is a serial standard developed by Apple, the Chinese translation Firewire (firewire). Like with USB, IEEE1394 also supports hot-swappable peripherals, providing power for peripherals, eliminating the need for peripherals own power, can connect many different devices, support for isochronous data transfers. Introduction IEEE1394 is divided into two transmission methods: Backplane mode and Cable mode. Backplane mode, the minimum rate is also higher than the highest rate of USB1.1, respectively, 12.5 Mbps, 25 Mbps, 50 Mbps, can be used in most high-bandwidth applications. Cable mode is very fast mode, divided into 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps and 400 Mbps of several, can transmit at 200Mbps high-quality data without compression films.

1394b is 1394 technology upgrade is only designed for multimedia - video, audio, control and computer networking standard designed home. It is through low-cost, secure CAT5 (five) to achieve a high performance home network. Since 1995, 1394a, began offering the product, 1394b 1394a technology is backward compatibility extensions. 1394b provides 800 Mbps or higher speeds, although the market has not yet appeared 1394b interface, optical storage products, but I think in the near future will certainly appear in the users eyes.

Compared to the USB interface, USB1.1 era in the early, 1394a interface speed has a large advantage in the introduction of USB2.0, 1394a interfaces in the speed advantage is no longer so obvious. At the same time an absolute majority of mainstream computer now and 1394 is not configured to use must be related to the interface card to purchase, additional expenditure. 1394 present a simple interface to external optical storage basic rarely, mostly with both 1394 and USB multi-interface products, the use of more flexible and convenient.

IEEE 1394's original design, the system lost its high-speed transfer rate, allowing the user on the computer directly through the IEEE 1394 interface to edit the electronic image files to save disk space. IEEE 1394 in the absence of prior editing electronic images must use special hardware, the video download to your hard drive for editing. But with more and more expensive hard disk space, high-speed IEEE 1394 but replaced by a USB 2.0 external computer hard drives become the best interface. 1394A can support theoretical maximum line length of 4.5 meters, the standard normal transmission rate of 100Mbps, and supports up to 63 devices.
